
O'Brien, Kroll and Grubauer Named ECHL Silver Skaters and Golden Goalie

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays, proud ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals, announced today that forward Pierre-Luc O'Brien, defenseman Johann Kroll and goaltender Philipp Grubauer have been named to the ECHL Silver Skater and Golden Goalie fantasy team and will be wearing special jerseys on Friday, March 9 against the Greenville Road Warriors.
O'Brien, 29, is currently second on the Stingrays with 43 points (23g, 20a) in 59 contests and was named the AMI Graphics ECHL Plus Performer of the Month for January after leading the league with a plus-minus rating of +12.
Kroll, 28, is third in the ECHL and second among league defensemen with a +20 rating and 16th among blueliners with 27 points (7g, 20a) in 51 games.
Grubauer, 20, skated in 40 games with the Stingrays this season going 22-12-5 with a 2.30 goals-against average and .916 save percentage and was named the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week (October 31-November 6), ECHL Goaltender of the Month (November) and the Reebok Hockey ECHL Rookie of the Month (January).
Fans had the opportunity to vote on ECHL.com for up to one player on each ECHL member team's ballot to help select the Silver Skaters for each team. Two players from each member team have been selected to wear the Silver Skater Fantasy Team custom-specialty game-worn jerseys with a metallic-silver front crest.
Goaltenders will also be participating through the Golden Goalie Program. The starting goaltender for each team's preselected date will wear a specially designed gold jersey.
Each of the Silver Skater and Golden Goalie jerseys will be available for bid through The MeiGray Group. The teams participating in the Silver Skater and Golden Goalie program this week will be available for bid starting on Monday, March 26 and running through Thursday, April 12.
The Stingrays return to action on Tuesday, March 6 against the Trenton Titans at 7:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum. Tuesday is 2-for-1 Ticket Night! Get two tickets for the price of one at the North Charleston Coliseum Box Office!
