Jersey Auction Nets More Money for Local Non-Profits
March 5, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release
(Boise, ID) - Special jerseys worn by the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads generated over $10,000 this past weekend to benefit St. Luke's MSTI Pediatrics Unit and St. Luke's Elks Childrens Rehab.
Black and gold, University of Idaho-themed jerseys were auctioned off via silent auction as the Steelheads hosted the Las Vegas Wranglers at CenturyLink Arena on Friday and Saturday. Between the auction for the game-worn jerseys and a raffle for a team-autographed jersey, $10,987 was raised for the two medical facilities dedicated to helping young people in the area.
One jersey sold outright - Marty Flichel's jersey was purchased for $1,500. The game-worn jerseys of Chris Hepp, Cody Purves, Jacob Cepis, and Jerry Kuhn all sold for at least $500 as well.
"We're pleased," Steelheads President Eric Trapp said. "These jerseys, like the Boise State-themed jerseys we wore in January, were well-received by the fans and helped us raise money for two very worthy entities."
One hundred percent of the money raised went directly to St. Luke's Elks Childrens Rehab and MSTI's Pediatrics Unit. It was the second fund-raising jersey auction for the Steelheads this season. Between the two, over $27,000 was raised this season. The Steelheads have now raised over $380,000 for local charities and non-profit organizations via jersey auctions.
Group outings at a Steelheads game are a great way to gather friends, colleagues, or co-workers for a fun night out in downtown Boise. Ticket prices are discounted and you can get a Pepsi, Double-R Ranch Hot Dog, and bag of Tim's Cascade Chips with each ticket. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
