EARLIER THIS WEEK...The Admirals have picked up three of four points so far this week with a 3-2 OT loss to Chicago on Thursday and a 6-4 win over Grand Rapids last night. On Thursday, Cody Franson's goal with just over five minutes to play in the game tied the score at two to force overtime. But the Wolves Brett Sterling beat Pekka Rinne with a slap shot from the slot to win it for Chicago just 1:06 into the extra session. Last night the Admirals posted five goals in the first period and held on for a 6-4 win over the Griffins. Cal O'Reilly posted five points (1g-4a) and was +4, while Janne Niskala had a pair of goals and was +3. The team finished the week with a 4-0 win over Rockford at the Bradley Center. Matt Ellison and O'Reilly each notched two goals and an assist while Pekka Rinne stopped 23 shots to earn his fourth shutout of the season.

THE FIRST TIME...A pair of Admirals picked up career first Saturday night in the team's win in Grand Rapids. Kevin Ulanski notched his first goal as an Admiral when he lit the lamp with just one second remaining in the first period. The tally was also the first AHL marker for the Madison, WI native in 28 games with the Ads and Albany River Rats. In addition, forward James Sixsmith notched his first assist as an Admiral when he fed Cal O'Reilly on the team's third goal of the evening. The Holy Cross alum had his first goal in a Milwaukee sweater on December 14th versus Iowa.

EN FUEGO...Center Cal O'Reilly became the first Admiral player to register five points in a game this season Saturday night when he posted a goal and dished out four assists in the team's 6-4 win over Grand Rapids. The five-point night was the most by an Admiral since Alexander Radulov collected six points November 14, 2006, also in Grand Rapids. The Toronto, ON native followed up that up with a two-goal, one assist performance in the Ads 4-0 win over Rockford yesterday. On the season O'Reilly now has 20 points (5g-15a) in his last ten games and has climbed to third in the AHL in scoring with 57 points.

REMAINING HATLESS...Janne Niskala lit the lamp twice last night against Grand Rapids while Cal O'Reilly and Matt Ellison each scored twice on Sunday, marking the 17th time this season that an Admirals player has scored twice, but the team is still looking for its first hat-trick of the season. Niskala, Ellison, Josh Langfeld, and Antti Pihlstrom have each tallied a pair of goals in one game three times this season. The last time an Admiral posted a hat trick was March 10th of last season when Chris Durno did the deed against Chicago.

FANTASTIC FRANSON...Admirals rookie blueliner Cody Franson had his five-game point streak (2g-3a) snapped yesterday against Rockford. Franson has points in six out of his last seven games, including the game-tying goal Thursday night against Chicago. The Salmon Arm, BC native notched his first multi-goal game on February 4th when he lit the lamp twice against the Manchester Monarchs. The Predators third-round pick in the 2005 NHL Draft, Franson has 26 points (10g-16a) and 20 PIMs in 53 games this season.

GO WEST YOUNG MAN...Starting with Sunday's game against Rockford the Admirals are in a stretch of six straight games against teams from the West Division, including four versus the IceHogs. So far this season the Ads have posted a 20-15-3-2 record against teams from their own division and an 8-5 mark versus squads from the North. Milwaukee will finish their season with nine consecutive intra-divisional games.

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS...The Admirals have been embroiled in some tight affairs this season as 42 of the team's 55 games, including seven of the last eight, have been decided by just one or two goals. Milwaukee has recorded a 13-10-3-2 mark in 28 one-goal decisions, while posting a 8-6 record when the game has been decided by two goals. Last season the Ads set a team record by playing in 63 one- and two-goal games.

In addition, the team has a one-hour hockey magazine dubbed "Milwaukee Admirals Center Ice" that airs every Monday from 6-7 pm on WSSP.
