Bulldogs Forward Mikhail Grabovski Named Player Of The Week

SPRINGFIELD, MA - The American Hockey League announced today that Hamilton Bulldogs centreman Mikhail Grabovski has been named the Rbk/AHL Player of the week for the period ending February 17th, 2008. Grabovski had five goals, five assists, 10 points, a plus-1 rating, 15 shots, two penalty minutes and was named first star three times in four games last week. He also had two game-winning goals in that span.

Grabovski was held scoreless on Wednesday against Toronto in a 5-2 loss but did register five shots in the game. He came back with his first-career AHL hat trick and an assist in the Bulldogs 7-4 win over the Marlies on Friday, before tallying the game-tying goal, an assist and a goal in the shootout in Hamilton's 4-3 win over Lake Erie on Saturday night. Grabovski capped the week with another four points (1-3-4) in the 'Dogs 4-1 win on Sunday over the Amerks.

In recognition of his achievement, Grabovski will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Bulldogs home game.

The 5-foot-11, 183-pound forward has recorded five goals and seven assists for 12 points in eight games with Hamilton this season, while also adding one goal and one assist - his first two career NHL points - in 12 games with the Montreal Canadiens. A 2004 draft pick by Montreal, Grabovski recorded 54 points in 66 games with Hamilton last season and added 11 points in 20 postseason games as the Bulldogs captured the 2007 Calder Cup championship.

The defending Calder Cup Champion Hamilton Bulldogs return to action tomorrow night (Tuesday, February 19th) at 8:07 p.m. when they travel to Iowa to take on the Stars at Wells Fargo Arena.
