Amerks Close Out Month With Second Homestand

(Rochester, NY)... Coming off of a three-game win streak followed by a fairly mixed weekend, the Rochester Americans approach the remainder of their second four-game homestand this month with three non-divisional games in five nights to close out the month.

Rochester's week begins on Wednesday, February 20th as the Amerks host the Albany River Rats at The Blue Cross Arena. The 7:05 p.m. contest is the second and final meeting this season between the two teams and will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks. The game will also be televised live on Time Warner SportsNet Channel 26. The Amerks fell 3-2 in their last meeting with the Rats at Times Union Center on December 19th. Rochester is 43-39-9 all-time against the Carolina Hurricanes' affiliate.

Wednesday's contest falls on College Night. Students can show their college ID at the Box Office and receive a $16.00 ticket for $10.00 or a $12.00 for just $8.00. The game will also be host to Family Night. All Rochester area school children, teachers, school employees, administrators and all families can purchase specially priced tickets. The week continues the night of Friday, February 22nd, as the Binghamton Senators make their third trip to Rochester this season for a 7:35 p.m. contest. The teams last met on December 22nd, as the Amerks dropped a 3-1 decision at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. This contest, the fifth of eight between the two teams, can be heard live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks. It will also be televised tape delayed on Time Warner SportsNet Channel 26. The Amerks are 0-4-0 this season and 18-20-4 all-time against the Sens.

Friday's contest falls on the next installment of the Amerks' Friday Night Frenzies. Fans can enjoy live music from Johnny Bauer up until gametime. As part of the festivities, the first 2,500 fans in attendance that night will take a home a sports bag courtesy of Foodlink and Zweigle's. Friday Night Frenzies begin at 6:15 p.m. in the main lobby of the Blue Cross Arena.

The Amerks will round off the month on Sunday, February 24th when the Houston Aeros roll into town. The 6:05 p.m. contest will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks. The game is the first of two meetings between the non-divisional opponents and will wrap up Rochester's second four-game homestand of the month. Rochester is 3-6-3 all-time against Houston.

Last week, Rochester went 1-1-1-0 in its three-in-three weekend, improving its record to 16-33-4-4. The Amerks have won half of their eight February games and have collected points in six.

The Amerks' only win of the weekend came on Friday in a 4-2 decision over long-time rivals, the Hershey Bears. The two-point efforts from Yannick Tifu (1+1), Drew Larman (0+2) and Anthony Stewart (1+1), as well as goals from Dan Collins and Marek Zagrapan, led the Amerks to their third consecutive victory. Goaltender Adam Dennis made 29 saves to help Rochester defeat the oldest team in the AHL.

Saturday night saw a 3-2 overtime loss for the Amerks against rival Syracuse Crunch. Andrej Sekera and Stewart collected Rochester's two goals at the War Memorial at Oncenter as the Amerks' win streak ended at three games.

A 4-1 loss to the defending Calder Cup champion Hamilton Bulldogs was seen at home Sunday night, despite the Amerks out shooting the Bulldogs 34-22. Dylan Hunter put in the only Rochester goal early in the second period with help from Peter Aston and Marc-Andre Gragnani.

With his assist Sunday night, Gragnani increased his point streak to seven games (2+6). Gragnani currently ranks sixth among all league rookies with 34 points (6+28). Mark Mancari remains Rochester's top point-getter with 41 points (15+26), while Stefan Meyer and Zagrapan share the team lead of 16 goals. Gragnani's 34 points are good enough for second on the team.
