Nyquist and McCollum Return to Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday assigned right wing Gustav Nyquist and goaltender Tom McCollum to the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Nyquist, 23, logged 11:42 of ice time and registered two shots in Detroit's 2-1 loss to the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. The second-year pro ranks fourth in the AHL with a team-best 40 points (14-26-40) in 39 contests. A native of Halmstad, Sweden, Nyquist shows seven points (1-6-7) in 19 career games with Detroit and 102 points (37-65-102) in 103 games with Grand Rapids.

McCollum, 23, sports a 10-6-1 record, a 2.69 goals against average, a 0.899 save percentage and one shutout in 17 appearances with the Griffins this season. A native of Sanborn, N.Y., McCollum sits one game shy of 100 career contests with the Griffins and ranks among franchise leaders with 5,477:30 minutes (4th), 37 wins (7th) and 2,365 saves (4th).

Nyquist and McCollum rejoin the Griffins as the team opens up a stretch of three home games in four nights. Grand Rapids will host Oklahoma City on Wednesday and Houston on Friday and Saturday before the league's All-Star break next week.
