KANNAPOLIS, NC - Derek Norris blasted off with a second-inning home run and the Suns held on for a 4-2 win over the Intimidators on Thursday night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium.

Norris homered for the second time in the series with one on and one out against Dexter Carter to give Hagerstown an early 2-0 lead. The Suns never trailed in the game.

Carter (1-2) gave up four earned runs over his six innings on the mound, though he did fan seven to move back to the top of the South Atlantic League with 61 strikeouts on the season.

The Intimidators (20-20), who trailed 4-0 early, did show signs of life and managed to bring the tying run to the plate in each of the last three innings. Kannapolis' best chance to tie the game came in the seventh when, trailing 4-2, the Intimidators had runners at second and third, but Drew Garcia grounded out to end the threat.

Jon Gilmore stayed hot with another multi-hit game. The 20-year-old third baseman went 2-for-4 and has raised his average from .161 to .234 over the last six games.

Hagerstown (19-18) starter Marcos Frias gave up just one earned run over six innings of work. Frias (2-1) also struck out six without walking a batter.

Osvaldo Rodriguez did walk a batter in the ninth, but struck out Eduardo Escobar to end the game and earn his seventh save of the season.
