CHARLESTON, SC - The Charleston RiverDogs and closer Pat Venditte will receive national recognition as the CBS Nightly News will air a feature starring professional baseball's only ambidextrous pitcher tonight, May 21 at 6:30 PM.

Jim Axelrod and the CBS film crew traveled to the Lowcountry on Monday, May 4th as the RiverDogs played the Greenville Drive to conduct interviews with Venditte, manager Torre Tyson, and RiverDogs Team President Mike Veeck.

Venditte, a native of Omaha, Neb., leads the South Atlantic League with 11 saves in 13 save opportunities along with leading the league with 16 appearances. He began his professional career by converting the first 28 save opportunities between short-season Staten Island and Charleston.

The RiverDogs are in the midst of an eight-game homestand between the Lexington Legends, an affiliate of the Houston Astros, and the Bowling Green Hot Rods, an affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays.
