BlueClaws Return Friday for Eight-Game Homestand

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The first-place Lakewood BlueClaws return home for their fourth homestand of the season on Friday for a stretch of eight straight games at FirstEnergy Park. The homestand will feature two Friday night firework displays and a special Memorial Day Weekend display on Sunday, a Ryan Howard cap giveaway, concert ticket extravaganza, and more. Plus, kids eat free at every home game, thanks to NJ 101.5 and ShopRite.

On Friday, May 22nd at 7:05 the BlueClaws open a four-game series with the current second place team, the Greensboro Grasshoppers (Florida Marlins). The game will feature a post-game fireworks display, thanks to Toyota/Scion World of Lakewood. It will also be Teacher Appreciation Night, presented by the New Jersey Education Association, with area teachers throwing out ceremonial first pitches.

Saturday, May 23rd at 7:05, is Lacrosse Night as the BlueClaws have invited lacrosse players from around the area to attend. There will be lacrosse tables on the concourse, 'Speed Pitch' will be transformed into 'Speed Throw' and the mascot from the Philadelphia Wings Lacrosse team will be on hand as well.

On Sunday, May 24th at 7:05, the BlueClaws will kick off summer with a special Memorial Day Weekend fireworks performance after the game, thanks to Toyota/Scion World of Lakewood. Because of the holiday weekend, the BlueClaws have added a fireworks show to the Sunday schedule. It is also a Kids Character Sunday with appearances from a special kids character who will be available for pictures.

The four game series with Greensboro ends on Monday with a 1:05 pm game and the BlueClaws will welcome every fan in attendance on the field afterwards for a post-game picture. An aerial picture will be taken of all the fans and posted on BlueClaws.com for fans to download.

On Tuesday, the BlueClaws will welcome in the West Virginia Power (Pittsburgh Pirates) for a four game series at 6:35. This game, the BlueClaws will be giving out Ryan Howard caps to the first 2,000 fans, thanks to Home Depot. Howard was a National League MVP and Rookie of the Year as well as being a former BlueClaw (2002). The cast of Music Man will also be signing the national anthem and during the seventh inning stretch.

On Wednesday, May 27th the BlueClaws will be playing a special 11:05 game and giving out Oversized Baseball Cards of outfielder Anthony Gose, the league leader in steals, to the first 2,000 fans aged 17 and under. It is also an education day and schools are encouraged to bring their students to have a fun learning experience. After the game at 6:30, the BlueClaws will be hosting their annual Celebrity Waiter event to benefit the ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia. The homestand continues on Thursday, May 28th at 6:35 and the BlueClaws will have their Summer Concert Ticket Extravaganza, thanks to Metromix Jersey Shore. Additionally, it is a Thursday and that means it's a Thirsty Thursday in the Coors Light WRAT Trap with $1 Coors and Coors Light drafts, $1 soda and 50 cent wings. The game is also College Fair Night, and prospective college students are encouraged to attend to check out the colleges that will have displays along the concourse of the stadium.

Finally, the homestand wraps up on Friday, May 29th at 7:05 with more post-game fireworks, thanks to Toyota/Scion World of Lakewood. There will also be a baseball card show on the concourse with trading cards and baseball memorabilia.

The Lakewood BlueClaws welcomed 425,166 fans to FirstEnergy Park during the 2008 season which upped their eight-season total to 3,595,378. They have led the South Atlantic League in average or overall attendance in each of their eight seasons.
