Applebee's Park site of 11th region baseball tournament; draw set for Saturday

Applebee's Park, home of the Lexington Legends of the South Atlantic League, will be the site of the 11th region high school baseball tournament May 25-27. District winners will play district runners-up in first-round games Monday, May 25, with semi-finals May 26 and the championship game May 27.

Pairings will be determined by a draw to be held Saturday, May 23 at noon in the Forcht Bank Executive Board Room at Applebee's Park.

"We're really excited to have the 11th region tournament here at Applebee's Park," said Gary Durbin, Legends vice president of facilities. "It gives more high school teams an opportunity to play in one of the finest parks in all of Minor League Baseball. We wish every team in Kentucky could have the opportunity to play a game here at Applebee's Park."

District winners who will play in the 11th region tournament are Franklin County, Lexington Henry Clay, Lexington Christian Academy and Madison Central.

District runners-up who will be in the regional field include Lexington Bryan Station, Lexington Catholic, Model and Woodford County.

The schedule:

Monday, May 25 Session 1 - Two games - Games 1 and 2 10 a.m. and 30 minutes after the completion of game 1

Session 2 - Two games - Games 3 and 4 6 p.m. and 30 minutes after the completion of game 3

Tuesday, May 26 Session 3 - Two games - Games 5 and 6 (Semi-Finals) 6 p.m. and 30 minutes after the completion of game 5

Wednesday, May 27 Session 4 - One game - Game 7 (Finals) 7 p.m.
