
Nolasco named Southern League Most Outstanding Pitcher

Jackson, TN- West Tenn Diamond Jaxx RHP Ricky Nolasco has been named the Southern League Most Outstanding Pitcher for the 2005 season as voted upon by the league's managers, radio broadcasters and print media.
Nolasco is currently 13-3 with a 3.01 ERA heading into his final regular season start on Saturday night at Pringles Park against Mobile. He is tied for the league lead in wins, leads the league in strikeouts with 168 and is currently 5th in the league with his 3.01 ERA. Nolasco's thirteen wins this season set a new Diamond Jaxx record for most wins in a season, breaking the previous mark of twelve set by Brian McNichol in the inaugural 1998 season. Nolasco is also eleven strikeouts away from tying the Diamond Jaxx record for most strikeouts in a single season, held by teammate Renyel Pinto. Nolasco was named to the midseason Southern League Northern Division All-Star team and was recently named the best right-handed pitcher on the year-end Southern League All-Star team.
