San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio Rampage head coach Chuck Weber named defenseman Nolan Yonkman as team captain for the Rampage for the 2011-12 season. In addition, Weber also appointed centers Bracken Kearns and Mark Cullen as alternate captains for all Rampage home games and center Greg Rallo and defenseman Tyson Strachan as alternate team captains for all Rampage road games.
"We have a strong leadership group this season," said Weber. "Yonkman and the alternate captains will lead by example for the entire group. Their work ethic at practice and games will set the tone for the rest of the team for a successful season."
Yonkman enters his second season as team captain with the Rampage and his sixth season as a team captain in the American Hockey League (AHL). A 10-year AHL veteran, Yonkman has played in 464 AHL games and 66 National Hockey League (NHL) games. He served as team captain for the Milwaukee Admirals for four years (2006-10) before joining the Rampage last season.
Cullen and Kearns will wear the "A" for all Rampage home games, both served as alternate captains together during the 2009-10 season with the Rockford IceHogs. Cullen is a nine-year AHL veteran playing in more than 500 AHL games and 32 NHL games. Kearns wore the "A" last season for the Rampage serving on the leadership team along with Yonkman. Kearns is a six-year AHL veteran having played in 338 AHL games.
Rallo and Strachan will don the "A" for all Rampage road games. A fifth-year AHL veteran, Rallo has played in 250 AHL games. Strachan enters his sixth season in the AHL with 142 AHL and 67 NHL appearances.
The Rampage open their 10th Anniversary season this Saturday at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center. Individual tickets for opening night, and all season long, start at $10 and can be purchased at the AT&T Center Southeast Box Office, by calling a Rampage representative at 210.444.5554 or online at sarampage.com.
