Fort Wayne, IN - Left-hander Brooks Dunn became the first Wizards player this season to earn a promotion within the San Diego Padres minor league system.

Dunn was promoted to the Lake Elsinore Storm of the California League after his relief appearance in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader between Fort Wayne and the Kane County Cougars (Oakland A's affiliate).

Dunn was 1-1 with a 2.14 earned run average in 14 relief appearances. In 21 innings, he allowed 14 hits, walked seven and struck out 13 batters. Opponents were hitting .179 against the former Mississippi State product, drafted in the 23rd round of the 2006 June Amateur Draft.

The Wizards, with three players on the disabled list - pitchers Grant Varnell and Drew Miller, along with infielder Tom King - will have 24 active players on their roster, one below the Midwest League allowable 25 players.
