New York Penn League All Star Game Rosters Feature Five Scrappers

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers and the New York Penn League are pleased to announce the 2012 NYPL All Stars. The American League roster will feature five members of the Scrappers. Joe Wendle, Joe Sever, Luis DeJesus, Jacob Lee, and Charlie Valerio will represent Mahoning Valley for the American League on August 14th at Eastwood Field. The Scrappers staff will coach the American League squad, while the Jamestown Jammers staff will coach the National League squad.

The festivities start on Monday, Aug. 13th at the Packard Music Hall in Warren with the All-Star Gala. The event beings at 6:00 pm and those in attendance will get to see the All-Stars up close as they are individually announced. Cuisine unique to the Valley will be available throughout the evening as well as drinks and live entertainment. The All-Star Gala is courtesy of TicketReturn.

The PNC Bank All-Star Luncheon starts the day on Tuesday, Aug. 14 at the Magnuson Grand Hotel where former Indians great Mike Hargrove will be a keynote speaker.

The action then shifts to Eastwood Field as gates will open at 3:30 pm. Players from both the American and National League teams will be signing autographs for fans before the power hitters of the NYPL showcase their skills during the Trumbull County Tourism Bureau Home Run Derby. The Derby is scheduled to start at 5:30 pm. First pitch for the game is scheduled for 7:35pm.
