
2012 NYPL All-Star Roster Announced

NORWICH- The Connecticut Tigers is pleased to announce that four players have been selected to the 2012 New York-Penn League All-Star Game which will be held on Tuesday, August 14th at 7:05 p.m. at Eastwood Field in Niles, OH; the home of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (Indians). IF Jared Reaves, IF Tyler Hanover, OF Danry Vasquez and LHP Josh Turley will represent the Tigers.
Outfielder Danry Vasquez was signed as a non-drafted free agent in July 2010 from Venezuela. The left-handed slugger is batting .323 with one home run and 26 RBIs. The Venezuela native leads the Tigers in batting average, hits, RBIs, total bases, at-bats and games played. He is tied for first in doubles on the team with 12.
LHP Josh Turley, the highest pick of the 2012 all-stars, was selected in the 16th round of the 2012 MLB Draft out of Baylor University in Texas. The lefty from Texarkana, TX is 2-0 with a team-best .043 ERA and has struck out 13 batters in 21 innings pitched. He has allowed two runs, 12 hits and opponents are batting .167 against him.
Infielder Tyler Hanover was drafted in the 33rd round of the 2012 MLB Draft and is posting a .294 batting average with two home runs and 11 RBIs. The Kernersville, NC native was drafted out of Louisiana State University where he hit above .300 in his four-year career. Hanover is fourth on the team in total bases with 54.
Infielder Jared Reaves was drafted in the 25th round of the 2012 MLB Draft out of the University of Alabama. The Eastman, GA native is batting .271 with two home runs and nine RBIs. Reaves has hit well with runners in scoring position, posting a .375 batting average and seven RBIs. He is third on the team in runs scored with 21.
The Connecticut Tigers are the Class-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and play in the New York-Penn League. The Tigers saw a 23% increase in attendance in 2011, (the 4th highest in Minor League Baseball), and are in their 3rd season at Dodd Stadium. Tickets are now on sale!
