Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

Fort Wayne, Indiana - The Quad Cities River Bandits claimed their third series of the season on Friday night at Parkview Field as they swept the Fort Wayne TinCaps in a doubleheader by scores of 11-3 and 6-2 behind Juan Carlos Negret and Herard Gonzalez's 11 combined RBIs.

The Bandits launched five home runs as a team on night and smacked four in game one, with two leaving the yard courtesy of Negret, who launched a three-run shot in the second off of TinCap's starter Robert Gasser to give his club a 3-0 lead.

In the third, Quad Cities posted a five-spot and chased Gasser after just 2.2 innings. Luca Tresh tacked on a run with his second hit of the game, an RBI double, before Negret drove in two more with a two-out single as the last man to face Gasser two batters later.

The offense continued against the Fort Wayne bullpen though, with Dillan Shrum greeting Dwayne Matos with a two-run home run to put Quad Cities up 8-0 after three.

Tyler Gentry hit the Bandits' third bomb of the game, a solo shot in the fourth, before Negret capped off his three-hit performance with a two-run shot, making it 11-0 Bandits.

The double-digit cushion was more than enough for Q.C. starter Noah Cameron who, in his second High-A start, struck out seven in five innings and allowed just one run in the final frame of the night with Ripken Reyes doubling in a run to get Fort Wayne on the board.

Yohanse Morel pitched the final two innings for Quad Cities, allowing concession runs in each of his innings.

Cameron (1-0) earned his first win as a member of the Bandits' rotation, while Gasser (1-6) dropped his sixth, allowing a season-high seven earned runs.

In game two, it was the TinCaps taking the first lead of the ballgame, as Agustin Ruiz drove in a run against Eric Cerantola- who got the start for Quad Cities in his High-A debut- but after a scoreless second, Quad Cities' Herard Gonzalez took Ryan Bergert over the wall in right for a go-ahead three-run blast.

Cerantola allowed a second TinCaps' run in the third on one of Olivier Basabe's four singles and pitched two outs into the fourth, but the right-hander was replaced by Patrick Halligan, who stranded a pair of Fort Wayne base runners with a strikeout.

With Bergert still on the bump in the fifth, Gonzalez took advantage of back-to-back leadoff hits by Parker Bates and Diego Hernandez and drove in his fourth run with a single to put the Bandits up two. Two batters later, Tresh posted his third-straight multi-hit game with an RBI single of his own.

After Halligan stranded two more base runners in the bottom of the fifth, Hernandez capped off the Bandits' night moments later and made it 6-2 with a two-out run-scoring single against Ruben Perez.

Kasey Kalich closed the door on Quad Cities' sweep of the doubleheader with a scoreless seventh.

Halligan (1-1) got the win for the River Bandits, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen with four strikeouts, while Bergert (0-5) pitched 4.1 innings for Fort Wayne, but gave up five runs, four earned on seven hits and two walks.

Quad Cities will close out a two-week road trip against the TinCaps on Sunday afternoon in a rematch of game one starters with Rylan Kaufman (1-0, 2.45) getting the ball for the Bandits against Fort Wayne's Jackson Wolf (1-3, 4.21). First pitch is scheduled for 1:05pm ET at Parkview Field.
