
Nastiuk and Wranglers Tame Ice Dogs 4-2

Long Beach, CA - The Las Vegas Wranglers® (38-12-14, 90 Points) defeated the Long Beach Ice Dogs (23-36-3, 49 Points) 4-2 at the Long Beach Arena on Sunday night. Wranglers' goalie Kevin Nastiuk made 34 saves, leading Las Vegas to the team's fifth straight win and sole possession of first place in the Pacific Division. Las Vegas defenseman Ryan Bonni's power-play goal with 4:03 remaining in the second period proved to be the game-winning goal. Center Tyler Mosienko and captain Mike McBain each dished out two assists in the win. Forwards Ryan Donally and Steve Crampton, as well as defenseman Aaron Power, each scored in the win. Las Vegas will play in Bakersfield at 7:00 pm at Rabobank Arena.
In the first period, Las Vegas jumped out to a 1-0 lead with the first goal of the evening off the stick of Ryan Donally just 3:51 into the period. Donally poked in a rebound off a Mike McBain shot for his third goal of the season. After a Long Beach penalty to Ash Goldie, the Wranglers expanded their goal to 2-0 with a tally by Aaron Power at 13:29. Power launched his ninth goal of the season from the high slot for the 2-0 Las Vegas lead. Long Beach trimmed the Las Vegas lead to 2-1 with a power-play goal by Alexei Smirnov at 14:46. Both teams fired 13 shots in the first period.
In the second period, both teams tallied a power-play goal starting with Long Beach. The Ice Dogs tied the game at two as Ash Goldie scored his 32nd goal of the season at the 4:03 mark. The Wranglers would regain the lead with a five-on-three power-play goal by Ryan Bonni at 6:39. Las Vegas worked the puck around to the left point where Bonni was waiting, he cranked a slapshot through traffic and into the back of the net for the 3-2 Wranglers lead.
In the third period, Steve Crampton scored an empty-net goal from Mike McBain with only one second remaining in the game for the final score of 4-2.
Las Vegas will play in Bakersfield on Friday before returning home on Tuesday, March 27th at 7:05 pm against the Bakersfield Condors. Friday, March 30th the Wranglers will host the Alaska Aces at 7:05 pm. The first 2,000 fans to the game receive a Wranglers' playoff puck compliments of Health Plan of Nevada and Southwest Medical Associates. Saturday, March 31st Las Vegas will host Alaska at 7:05 pm. Before the game, from 4:30 - 6:30 in the concourse of the Orleans Arena, fans may attend the Port of Subs Pre-Game Party.
