Ellsworth stops season-high 44 shots, Reddox leads with three-point night

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Stockton Thunder (29-22-10, 68 points) goaltender Cam Ellsworth made a season-high 44 saves as the Thunder cruised to a 4-1 victory over the Bakersfield Condors before 8,292 at Rabobank Arena on Saturday night.

Rookie Liam Reddox gave the Thunder a 1-0 lead with his third goal of the season just 1:08 into the game, burying a rebound past Bakersfield goaltender Jamie Hodson after center Nathan Martz was denied on a backhander from the right wing. Thunder goaltender Cam Ellsworth stoned Bakersfield on all 12 shots in the first period to preserve the lead.

The Thunder increased its lead to 2-0 at the 7:24 mark of the second period on veteran Tim Verbeek's 15th goal of the season. Verbeek drew a boarding penalty on Bakersfield's Tyler Scott in a battle behind the net, then followed just seconds later by taking Jim Dahl's centering bid from the right corner and tapping the re-direction through Hodson's five-hole for a power-play goal. The Condors cut the Thunder lead to 2-1 with 51.9 seconds left in the period, when Tyler Liebel lifted a backhanded shot from the right wing over Ellsworth's left shoulder and under the crossbar.

Rookie Stephane Goulet scored his 13th goal of the season to hike the Thunder lead to 3-1 at the third period's 6:19 mark on a 3-on-1 rush. Martz sped down the left and found Goulet in the slot with a centering pass, who roofed a wrist shot over Hodson's glove.

All-star defenseman Beau Geisler finished off the Condors with 1:31 left in regulation with his eighth goal of the season, burying a rebound from the slot after Hodson stopped Brock Radunske's bid from the right wing. Ellsworth stopped all 14 shots by Bakersfield in the third period.

Reddox finished with a career-high three points (1g-2a), leading the Thunder offense.

Before the game, the Thunder claimed forward David Herring off waivers from the Texas Wildcatters.
