
Nailers Score Three In Third To Beat Reading

READING, PA - The Wheeling Nailers offense put together three, third period goals to defeat the Reading Royals, 4-1, on Sunday. It was an important game for the Nailers as they pick up two points on the team holding the final playoff spot in the North Division.
It was the eleventh and final meeting of the season between these two clubs as the Nailers went 6-3-2 against Reading in 2006-2007.
The Nailers fell behind at 10:59 of the first period as the Royals were on the power play. Charlie Kronschnabel was able to coral a rebound and slid it past Andy Franck for his first professional goal.
Wheeling tied it at one with a power play of their own still in the firs period. At 15:39, Sean Collins picked up his first of three assists as he found Ryan Moren in the slot who ripped a wrist shot blocker side on Jeff Pietrasiak for his ninth of the year.
The teams traded scoring chances in the second period but both goaltenders kept the score 1-1 entering the third period.
The game winning goal came at 7:12 of the third as Adam Edinger notched his seventh goal of the season. Paul Bissonnette carried the puck into the Reading zone knocking down two defenseman in the process. His pass went through to Edinger who roofed a wrister from high in the slot.
Two more goals created the highest offensive output for the Nailers since January 26. Collins sprung Ned Havern on a breakaway who scored for the second straight night at 10:15. Then inside the final two minutes of the third Collins and Havern setup Jordan Cameron on the power play.
The Nailers were 2 for 3 on the power play in the game while holding Reading to one goal on eight chances.
Andy Franck made 33 saves in his 22nd win of the season.
Wheeling will travel to Cincinnati for the final time this season on Tuesday night at 7:30.
