
Nashville's Second Half Surge Tops Independence

Matthews (NC) - The Charlotte Independence professional soccer team was topped in Nashville SC's second half surge by on Saturday night at the Sportsplex at Matthews. USL Championship Golden Boot leader Daniel Rios open the scoring in the 7th minutes, and netted the go-ahead penalty in the second half.
After Nashville opened the match with an early lead, Charlotte Independence captain Enzo Martinez riffled a shot past goalkeeper Matt Pickens for his third goal of the season.
In the 56th minute, Nashville was awarded a penalty which was converted by Rios. Five minutes later, Nashville midfielder Kharlton Belmar notched the game's final goal off a Matt LaGrassa assist.
The Charlotte Independence will next be in action on Sunday, August 25th as the team takes on Indy Eleven at Lucas Oil Stadium. The official watch party will be hosted at Jack's House Soccer Bar and Event Space (1523 Elizabeth Ave. Suite 120, Charlotte , NC 28204). Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 PM ET. The event will be free and open to the public.
