BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - Birmingham Legion FC scored in the 90th minute and moved its unbeaten streak to six-straight matches with a 1-0 win over Memphis 901 FC Saturday night in Birmingham, Ala.
The match continued a tough stretch on the 901 FC schedule, as the club has played seven-straight games against teams in the playoff picture at the time they faced Memphis. Memphis has earned a point in eight of its last 14 matches.
Memphis (4-12-7, 19 pts) ran into a buzzsaw Birmingham (8-10-5, 29 pts) team that is one of only two teams in the USL Championship Eastern Conference that has not lost in its last five matches.
901 FC led the possession battle, 60 percent-40 percent, and was accurate with 81 percent of its passes.
Birmingham's goal was scored by Daniel Johnson and assisted by Brian Wright.
901 FC remains on the road for a showdown at Tampa Bay Rowdies next Saturday night at 6:30 (CT). Memphis' next match in Downtown Memphis is Saturday, Sept. 7 against Swope Park Rangers.
