June 29, 2007 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Albuquerque matched Nashville run-for-run through six innings, but a six-run Sounds seventh buried the 'Topes, as Nashville (47-33) downed Albuquerque (39-41) 11-6 Thursday night at Isotopes Park. Robert Andino tripled in the first to extend his hitting streak to a season team-high 15 games.

The 'Topes and Sounds each scored twice in the first, twice in the third and once in the fifth, as the game was deadlocked at 5-5 through six innings played. In the seventh, though, Nashville broke the game wide open. The Sounds jumped on the Albuquerque bullpen, scoring three times off Chris Young and three more off Erasmo Ramirez all in the seventh to take a commanding 11-5 advantage. The 'Topes would push across a run in the eighth, but they would get no closer, dropping their second-straight in this three-game series.

Albuquerque starter Chris George didn't factor into the decision, leaving a tied ballgame after six innings. George allowed five runs on seven hits, walking four and striking out three. Young (0-2) took the loss, allowing all three of his runs in the seventh without recording an out.

For the Sounds, starter Chris Oxspring allowed five runs on 10 hits over five innings of work. He walked two and punched out four. The win went to Tim Dillard (4-4), who allowed a run on four hits over three innings. Dillard walked one and struck out one.

Nashville jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the first, but setting a tone for things to come, Albuquerque had an equal answer in the home half. After Andino's lead-off triple, Eric Reed followed with a sacrifice fly to drive in the team's first run. Later in the inning, Valentino Pascucci doubled home a run, tying the game at 2-2.

The Sounds tacked on two more runs in the third, but again the 'Topes would answer with two of their own. This time Reed led-off with a triple and scored on a groundout, while Pascucci walked and came around to score on a groundout as well, knotting the game at 4-4. Two innings later, both teams traded one more run-Albuquerque's tally coming on a solo homer off the bat of Scott Seabol.

In the seventh, Nashville's offense exploded for six runs. The Sounds sent 10 men to the plate in the inning, taking the first comfortable lead of the game. For the first time all evening, the Isotopes didn't have an answer.

Albuquerque managed to push across a run in the eighth, as Reggie Abercrombie singled and scored on a Chad Hermansen base hit. The Isotopes would not, however, get any closer.

The Isotopes and Sounds finish-up the quick, three-game series on Friday Night at The Lab. In the finale, right-hander Seth Etherton (0-1, 7.71) gets the nod for Albuquerque. Nashville counters with lefty Zach Jackson (8-3, 4.75). First pitch is set for 7:05 PM.

On Friday, the Zooperstars! will perform for the crowd, and the game will be followed by the exciting conclusion PNM Power Derby qualifying, as Rio Rancho High's Joey Garcia and Gallup High School's Martin Arias meet in a tiebreaker round, with a spot in the July 9 PNM Power Derby on the line.

Still to come on this seven-game homestand are Orbit Bobbleheads, a Red, White & Blue Jersey Auction and a pair of fireworks shows in a pre-Independence Day celebration on July 2 and July 3.
