Tucson Sidewinders News Release

Las Vegas, NV - Donnie Sadler homered, tripled and had four RBI to lead the Sidewinders to a 10-3 win over the Las Vegas 51's on Thursday night at Cashman Field. Tucson is now just a game out of first place in the Pacific Southern division.

Sadler's second home run of the season gave the Sidewinders a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning and his two run triple pushed Tucson's lead to 7-3 in the sixth. He singled in the eighth and came up shy of the cycle when he struck out in the ninth.

Casey Daigle earned the win and helped himself with the bat. Daigle (6-2) allowed three runs on seven hits in five innings and drilled a two run homer two batters after Sadler's blast in the second to make it a 4-0 game.

After Las Vegas cut the lead to 4-3, the Sidewinders scored three times in the sixth on Brian Barden's RBI single and Sadler's triple. Jeff Salazar delivered a RBI single in the seventh to extend the lead to 8-3. Jamie D'Antona had a pinch hit RBI single in the eighth and Rich Thompson scored on a wild pitch for the final margin.

Mike Schultz and Bill Murphy each worked two scoreless innings of relief to close out the game.

The Sidewinders and 51's wrap up their three game series tomorrow night at Cashman Field. Left-hander Evan MacLane (4-6, 7.32) starts for Tucson against left-hander Eric Stults (5-5, 7.20) for Las Vegas. First pitch is at 7:11. The game will air live on COOL 1450 beginning at 6:55.
