Fresno Grizzlies News Release

Fresno, CA - Fresno Grizzlies third baseman Tomas De La Rosa and relief pitcher Dan Giese have been selected to represent Fresno in the 20th Annual Triple-A All-Star game July 11 in Albuquerque, NM.

Through 81 games, De La Rosa leads the Grizzlies with 77 hits, contributing to his .317 (77-243) batting average. De La Rosa is also among the team's leaders in many other categories including doubles (18), stolen bases (13), RBIs (32) and runs (36). Perhaps just as impressive as his offensive numbers has been De La Rosa's consistent play at the hot corner, where he has made the highlight reel on a consistent basis.

Giese, a seven-year veteran, has helped solidify the Grizzlies' bullpen with an impressive 3-0 record and 1.88 ERA in 43.0 innings pitched. In 25 appearances this season, Giese has walked only four batters, while striking out 41. This will be Giese's second-ever appearance in the Triple-A All-Star game. In 2004, Giese made the International League roster as a member of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons.

The 29-year-old De La Rosa makes the all-star squad as a second-year member of the Grizzlies while the 30-year-old Giese joins the team in just his first year in the organization. With the selection of the two players, this becomes the sixth time Fresno has had at least two players represented on the all-star roster.

The 2007 All-Star game will be played July 11th at Albuquerque's Isotopes Park as the PCL All-Stars and International League All-Stars will go head-to-head in a game televised on ESPN2, with first pitch set for 7:35 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
