Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
OMAHA, NE - Omaha's premier Independence Day celebration takes place Tuesday, July 3rd, at Rosenblatt Stadium. The night will feature live music and hilarious mascots, as well as exciting professional baseball, and will be capped off with the annual Omaha World-Herald Independence Day Fireworks show, presented by the Omaha World-Herald, the City of Omaha and the Omaha Royals.
The Rosenblatt Stadium gates will open at 4:00 p.m. for the Royals' 6:05 p.m. game with the Oklahoma RedHawks. Live music by the band Wheelin' and Dealin' greets fans from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the ballpark's front plaza. The first 500 fans to arrive get a copy of the Mulberry Lane CD "Stars and Stripes and Sisters Forever." The four sisters of Mulberry Lane, who grew up singing together in Omaha, are now nationally known, having sold over 600,000 CDs. The light rock group, which performed the National Anthem at the 2006 Nokia Sugar Bowl, will not only sing the Anthem prior to Tuesday's first pitch, but will also perform a concert between the end of the game and the fireworks extravaganza from a stage erected in the stadium's outfield bleachers.
Just prior to the National Anthem Tuesday, a huge 30-by-60-foot American flag will be unfurled on field. The giant flag is provided by Woodmen of the World. As the Anthem ends, a Nebraska Air National Guard BlackHawk helicopter will fly over the stadium.
During the game, fans will be entertained by the world famous ZOOperstars, featuring Harry Canary, Nolan Ryno and other characters. Following the game and the Mulberry Lane concert, it's the world-class fireworks display staged by Fireworks by Grucci. The display is choreographed to a medley of American music, which will be broadcast on Star 104.5 FM.
Shuttle services will be running from the Westroads and Oakview Malls to Rosenblatt from 3:45-7:00 p.m. and back to the malls at the end of the night. The buses will leave from the Westroads' northeast parking lot near Dick's Sporting Goods and at Oakview's northwest parking lot near Lonestar. The round trip service costs $3, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Papillion Little League.
Tickets for the event are selling at a brisk pace. Limited Field Box seats are still available for $12. Reserved seats ($10) and General Admission seats ($8) may also be purchased by calling the Royals ticket office at (402) 738-5100. Tickets are also available online at www.Oroyals.com and www.Etix.com.
