Nashville SC News Release
NASHVILLE - Nashville Soccer Club enters halftime tied 0-0 with D.C. United on Wednesday night at Nissan Stadium, but a late red card to the visitors sets up a dramatic second half. Nashville dictated the pace of the match early on and had the first major opportunity with a free kick won just outside the box by midfielder Derrick Jones in the 13' minute. AnÃÂbal Godoy took the attempt and sent it over the bar. In the 21' minute, Nashville SC was forced to make a change at winger as Dominique Badji came off with an injury.
In the 34' minute, forward Daniel RÃÂos touched the ball off to midfielder Dax McCarty at the top of the box, who took a shot under pressure that was saved by D.C. goalkeeper Bill Hamid. A few minutes later in the 39' minute, Nashville had another free kick opportunity from just outside the box. RÃÂos took the free kick and sent it just wide of the far post.
In the final minutes of first-half stoppage time, D.C. was reduced to 10 men after a second yellow card and subsequent red card was shown to D.C.'s Russell Canouse. His first yellow card had come just minutes earlier in the 37' minute.
The Boys in Gold owned 58% of possession throughout the first half.
