Nailers to Host Pink in the Rink on November 28th

November 10, 2009 - ECHL (ECHL) - Wheeling Nailers News Release

WHEELING, WV - The Wheeling Nailers, the 'AA' affiliate of the Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins, announce today that the team will be going Pink on November 28th to help raise money and awareness for breast cancer patients in the Ohio Valley.

The Nailers will donate $2 off designated tickets and part of the proceeds from the Pink jersey auction to be held on Saturday night following the game to Ohio Valley's Awareness Inc's Driving for a Cure.

Last season the Nailers donated over $6,300 to Ohio Valley Awareness Inc to help with local cancer patient care. OV Awareness Inc. uses the funds to provide boxed lunches to chemotherapy patients at the infusion center at The Cancer Center at OVMC. The organization is also purchasing three laptop computers for patients to use while receiving treatment.

The Nailers will also be honoring the memory of long time Ohio Valley broadcaster George Kellas on November 28th. The first 2500 fans will receive a George Kellas bobble head courtesy of Jackson Hewitt and WKKX. " George was a great champion for Wheeling and the Ohio Valley." said Nailers Vice President Craig Bommer. " He always showed his love for the local sports teams, kids and fans. We are honored that his wife Sherry allowed us to honor him on this night and with this bobble head."
