Nailers Switch Up Goalies

WHEELING, WV - The Wheeling Nailers, the "AA" affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers, have announced that the Penguins have re-assigned goaltender John Curry to the Wheeling Nailers and David Brown to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. In a separate transaction, the Nailers have traded goalie Terry Denike to the Reading Royals for future considerations.

Curry, 23, recorded a 1-2-0 record with a 2.66 goals against average and .901 save percentage in three games with the Baby Penguins this season. A free agent signing out of Boston University, Curry began the year by posting a 4-1-0 record with a 2.81 goals against average and .905 save percentage in six games with the Las Vegas Wranglers (ECHL) this season.

Curry also competed for the United States National Team at the Deutschland Cup in Hannover, Germany, in November, where he posted a 1-0-1 record, a 1.92 goals against average and a .946 save percentage.

Brown, 22, posted a 5-5-1 record with a 3.07 goals against average and a .920 save percentage in 11 games with Wheeling. He was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the eighth round (208th overall) of the 2004 Entry Draft.

Denike, 26, began the season with the Dayton Bombers before being claimed off waivers by Wheeling on November 7. With the Nailers he was 1-1-0, in two games, with a 3.95 goals against average. His win came against his former team on November 17 in Dayton, OH.

The Nailers visit the Reading Royals on Wednesday at 6:35pm in search of redemption, after falling to the Royals 5-3 on Sunday.
