BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors have acquired goaltender Jeff Pietrasiak from the Reading Royals (ECHL) for undisclosed considerations, head coach Marty Raymond announced today.

Pietrasiak, 27, joins the Condors after starting the season with the Royals. In six games this year, he has gone 2-3-0, with a 3.32 goals-against average and .883 save percentage.

Pietrasiak saw action in the American Hockey League with the Hershey Bears last year. He won two of the three games he played with Hershey, accumulating a 3.57 GAA and a .900 save percentage.

"Goaltending has been an area of concern early this season, and Jeff became available," Raymond said. "He had a brilliant career at UNH and is a young goaltender with a lot to prove. He's happy to join the team, and we're happy to bring him in."

The 6-foot-1-inch, 180-pound native of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts spent the majority of last season, his first in professional hockey, with the Royals. Pietrasiak suited up for Reading 33 times in 2006-07, amassing a 14-16-3 record. He notched two shutouts and finished with a 3.09 GAA and a .901 save percentage. He also had a five-game stint with the Pensacola Ice Pilots last year.

Prior to turning pro, Pietrasiak, who was drafted in the sixth round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Phoenix Coyotes, had a strong career at the University of New Hampshire (NCAA). He played a total of 55 games from 2002-06 for the Wildcats, going 27-13-6 with two shutouts. He posted a 2.46 GAA and a .917 save percentage, stopping a total of 1,310 shots in his college career.

Pietrasiak will join the team following the Alaska road trip.
