Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Augusta, GA - The Johnstown Chiefs fell behind the Augusta Lynx in the first period and never recovered, losing 8-2 on Tuesday evening.

Aaron Slattengren started the scoring at 5:34 of the first, then Louis Goulet tallied next. Goulet took a pass that deflected off of the stick of Vincent Zaore and wristed a shot by Chiefs starting goalie Ryan Nie for a 2-0 Lynx lead.

Jean Desrochers and Ryan Garlock scored 29 seconds apart for the Chiefs in the second period, but not before the Lynx scored three times to stretch the lead to 5-0. The fifth goal chased Nie, and he was replaced by Andrew Penner marking the first time a Chiefs goalie did not finish a game this season. The Lynx's Ryan Dingle would score Augusta's sixth goal of the game before the second ended.

Goals by Augusta's John Laliberte and Bobby Bolt in the third period would set the final score. Laliberte's tally came on the power play making Augusta 1-for-5 with the man advantage. The Chiefs would go 0-for-3.

Nie took the loss in net making 25 saves against 30 shots, while Penner saved nine of 13 shots in relief. J.P. Levasseur was 20-for-22 in net against Chiefs shooters.

The Chiefs' next home game is on Friday December, 21 against the Cincinnati Cyclones. The PA Lottery is sponsoring a scratch off ticket giveaway at that game, and Santa Clause will also be on hand for the Chiefs' Christmas celebration!
