Stockton Thunder News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, has announced goaltender Cam Ellsworth has been traded to the Pensacola Ice Pilots in exchange for future considerations.
Ellsworth, 27, has appeared in nine games this season with the Thunder, posting a 3-5-0 record with a .885 save percentage, no shutouts and a 3.77 goals-against-average. Ellsworth was signed by the Thunder as a free agent on October 5, 2006 and in 76 career games, the 6-foot, 203-pound goaltender has a 39-28-5 record, .902 save percentage, 2.85 goals-against-average and five career shutouts.
The Thunder is now carrying two goaltenders on its 21-man roster (Tim Boron and Glenn Fisher).
The transaction comes one day following the Thunder's acquisition of right wing Spencer Carbery and defenseman Louis-Philippe Lachance from the Bakersfield Condors in exchange for right wing Jesse Bennefield. The Thunder is 8-10-2 (18 points) through 20 games, standing at third place in the ECHL's Pacific Division and seventh in the National Conference.
The Thunder returns to play on Friday, December 7 with a 7:30 p.m. home game against the Las Vegas Wranglers at Stockton Arena. The game can be heard live on radio at 1420 KSTN and on the internet (video and audio available) at www.stocktonthunder.com, courtesy of B2 Networks.
Host of the 2008 ECHL All-Star Game and festivities on Jan. 22 and 23, the Thunder has led the ECHL in attendance for two consecutive seasons and drew 244,085 fans to Stockton Arena in 2006-07.
