This Week's Recap and Results

Wednesday, Feb. 2: Wheeling - 1 at Reading ‚¬" 3

Goaltender Michael Hutchinson made 40 saves, and Ryan Cruthers scored twice late in the third to help lead the Reading Royals to a 3-1 victory, snapping the Nailers seven game winning streak. Jason DeSantis scored the lone goal for Wheeling.

Friday, Feb. 4: Wheeling ‚¬" 6 at Cincinnati -- 3

Doug Rogers and Jason DeSantis each finished with three point nights, as the Nailers posted six goals for the fifth time this season at US Bank Arena. The Cyclones Mathieu Aubin also posted three points scoring on a penalty shot in the second period. Peter Delmas made 28 saves, to continue to go undefeated in goal.

Saturday, Feb. 5: Wheeling ‚¬" 6 vs. Cincinnati-- 2

A shorthanded Nailers squad raced out to a 3-0 first period lead in fron of 4,046 at WesBanco Arena for Pink In the Rink Night. Three players finished with four point nights: Mikael Bedard (2g, 2a), David Marshall (2g, 2a), and Doug Rogers (1g, 3a). All three players finished with a plus-5 rating. Peter Delmas was sharp between the pipes once again, making 28 saves to improve to 8-0 on the season. The back-to-back wins versus Cincinnati propels the Nailers lead in the North Division to 14 points. The six goal output marks the sixth time Wheeling has scored six or more goals against the Cyclones this season.

This Week's Quick Hits

The Nailers racked up several league honors this week. Rookie forward Nick Petersen was named the Sher-Wood ECHL Player of the Week, the AMI Graphics Plus Performer of the Month, and the Reebok Hockey Rookie of the Month for January.. Petersen also won the player of the week award for the week ending on Oct. 31. Goaltender Peter Delmas was named the Reebok Hockey Goaltender of the Week. Delmas is now 8-0 for the Nailers this season. Forward Doug Rogers had a breakout week, posting seven points (2g, 5a) in two games on Friday and Saturday.

Upcoming Events and Promotions

Coaches Show: The Nailers coaches show, Nailers Unmasked will air tonight on The Mix 97.3 begining at 7:00 p.m. The Show will not be live at Generation Restaurant tonight, and there will not be a show next Monday due to the Nailers game at Kalamazool. The show will return live on location at Generations on Monday February 21 at 7:00 p.m. However, every Monday you can take advantage of Generations' Steak Special for $11.99!
