Alaska Aces News Release

The Alaska Aces have acquired forward, Dan Kissel from the Gwinnett Gladiators in exchange for future considerations, Head Coach Brent Thompson announced on Monday. Kissel is in his first pro season, and is currently sixth in scoring for the Gladiators. He will join Alaska this week, and is scheduled to make his debut this weekend when the Aces host the Stockton Thunder in three straight games, starting on Friday night. Fans can visit the Aces at their Facebook page for more information, or call the Aces at 907.258.ACES.

Kissel, 24, is in his first full pro season, but early in his career has shown his capabilities at the professional level. The 5'9", 180 lbs., Crestwood, IL native has 23 points (9g, 14a) in 45 games with Gwinnett. At the time of the trade, he was sixth in Gladiator overall scoring, and tied for fifth in goals. Last season Kissel jumped onto the scene as an amateur, scoring seven goals and adding an assist in 11 games with the Bakersfield Condors. He went on to add a pair of goals and assists in nine playoff games.

Prior to turning pro, Kissel played four seasons collegiately at the University of Notre Dame. In 140 games for the Fighting Irish, Kissel had 57 points (25g, 32a). In 2008, as a sophomore, Kissel helped the Irish to the NCAA National Championship game. In other Aces news, the club has released forward Brandon Coccimiglio from his amateur tryout.

The Aces return home to host the Stockton Thunder for three games this weekend on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Tickets for all three games are on sale. For more information, please call the Aces at 907.258.ACES or visit their Facebook page.
