Stingrays Weekly: Stingrays Face Big South Division Matchups this Week

The South Carolina Stingrays wrapped up a three-game series against the Cincinnati Cyclones this week and battled the Kalamazoo Wings in back-to-back contests for a week record of 2-1-0-0. On Wednesday, the Stingrays squared up against the Cyclones in their final regular season meeting at U.S. Bank Arena. Stingrays forward Dan Eves erased a 2-1 Cyclones lead in the third period and defenseman Zach Jones recorded his first professional goal in overtime to seal the victory. The Stingrays visited Wings Stadium for the first time in team history on Friday. Kalamazoo grabbed an early lead and never looked back, picking up a 5-1 win. Forward Samson Mahbod netted the lone goal for the Rays. On Saturday, forwards Tommy Goebel (1g, 2a), Luke Popko (1g, 1a) and Eves (1g, 1a) registered multi-point games and goaltender Andrew Loewen earned his first ECHL victory as the Stingrays edged the Wings 5-4.

Forward Pierre-Luc O ‚¬â„¢Brien is tied for second in the league with three shorthanded goals and four shorthanded points (3g, 1a).

Goaltender Todd Ford sits ninth with a 2.69 goals-against average and netminder Jared DeMichiel is eighth with a 2.63 GAA.

Forward David de Kastrozza is 13 among ECHL rookies with 26 points (15g, 11a).

Defenseman Josh Godfrey is first among ECHL defensemen with 13 goals, nine power play markers and 128 shots.

Defenseman Nate Kiser is third among league D-men with 29 minor penalties.
