Walleye Sweep Weekend To Continue Recent Success

With a pair of road wins at Gwinnett last week, the Toledo Walleye have moved into the thick of the Eastern Conference playoff race. The Walleye, who have won three straight and eight of their last 10, are 21-20-3 for 45 points and are just one point behind Cincinnati and Kalamazoo for the final playoff spot in the conference.

Toledo has scored 52 goals over its last 10 games, including scoring at least four goals in each of its eight wins over that span. Overall on the season, the Walleye rank seventh in the ECHL with 3.32 goals per game.

The Walleye opened last weekend with a 6-3 win at Gwinnett on Friday. ECHL All-Star Andy Bohmbach led the way offensively for Toledo with a goal and three assists while Mike Hedden chipped in with two goals and an assist. Jimmy Spratt earned the win in goal turning aside 33 of 36 shots.

Hedden had his second straight two-goal performance in Toledo ‚¬â„¢s 5-2 victory against the Gladiators on Saturday. Scott Fletcher added a goal and an assist in the win while Joe Palmer stopped 18 shots to led the Walleye to their season-high fourth consecutive road win.

Bohmbach, who was recalled by Rockford of the American Hockey League prior to Saturday ‚¬â„¢s game, leads Toledo with 41 points (18g-23a), which is good enough for fourth among ECHL rookies. Fellow first-year player Zack Torquato is fifth among rookies with 40 points, and is second among rookies with 29 assists.

Toledo returns home to Huntington Center on Friday to host Greenville before travelling to Johnstown for a match-up with Wheeling on Saturday. The Walleye conclude the week on Sunday at home against Kalamazoo.

A Player playing for a team based outside of the continent of North America at any time during the 2010-11 Season, in order to be eligible to play in the ECHL for the remainder of the 2010-11 Season and/or Playoffs, must have a signed contract and be placed on an ECHL roster by 5:00 pm ET on Monday, February 7, 2011. Players who return from teams based outside of North America and subsequently play in the NHL/AHL prior to the Overseas Deadline may be added to an ECHL Active Roster at any time.

Elmira Jackals

· Eric Regan leads all defensemen with 30 points (9g-21a).

· The Jackals are tied for the league lead with 3.64 goals per game.

Reading Royals

· Reading has the best winning percentage in the league at .685 (29-12-5).

· Andrew Sarauer has 14 points in his last 11 games (6g-8a).

· The Royals play in Johnstown against Wheeling on Friday and host Trenton on Saturday and Sunday.

Trenton Devils

· Ryan Hayes ranks seventh among rookies with 35 points (16g- 19a).

· Ryan Ginand leads the league with 282 shots.

· Trenton hosts Kalamazoo on Wednesday and Thursday and are at Reading on Saturday and Sunday.

North Division

Cincinnati Cyclones

· The Cyclones are 12-5-5 when scoring first.

· Dustin Sproat has scored five goals in his last seven games and is tied for the team lead in goals with 14.

· The Cyclones host Florida on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Kalamazoo Wings

· The K-Wings have scored at least one power-play goal in each of their last six games.

· Kory Karlander recorded his 800th career point on Saturday against South Carolina.

· Kalamazoo is at Trenton on Wednesday and Thursday, hosts Greenville on Saturday and is at Toledo on Sunday.

Toledo Walleye

· Toledo has won eight of its last 10 games, which is its best streak this season.

· Mike Hedden has scored two goals in each of the last three games.

· The Walleye host Greenville on Friday, visit Wheeling on Saturday in Johnstown and host Kalamazoo on Sunday.

Wheeling Nailers

· Doug Rogers had seven points (2g-5a) in two games last week.

· The Nailers are 15-6-0 when outshot by their opponent.

· Wheeling hosts Reading on Friday and Toledo on Saturday with both games being held in Johnstown.

South Division

Florida Everblades

· Bobby Goepfert is tied for the lead league with 19 wins.

· Alexandre Imbeault is tied for the league lead with 27 goals.

· The Everblades are at Cincinnati on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Greenville Road Warriors

· The Road Warriors are 3-1 in shootouts this season.

· Jimmy Kilpatrick has recorded four points (2g-2a) in his last three games.

· Greenville hosts South Carolina on Wednesday and is at Toledo on Friday and at Kalamazoo on Saturday.

Gwinnett Gladiators

· Pat Galivan has at least one point in nine of his last 12 games, scoring 18 points (6g-12a) over that stretch.

· Gwinnett is 13-for-47 (27.7 percent) on the power play over the last 10 games.

· The Gladiators are at South Carolina on Friday and host the Stingrays on Saturday and Sunday.

South Carolina Stingrays

· Matt Scherer ranks first in the league with five game-winning goals.

· Dan Eves is on a three game point streak (2g-2a).

· South Carolina is at Greenville on Wednesday, hosts Gwinnett on Friday and visits the Gladiators on Saturday and Sunday.

Mountain Division

Alaska Aces

· Alaska is the second-least penalized team in the league with 13.40 penalty minutes per game.

· Wes Goldie is tied for the league lead with 27 goals.

· The Aces host Stockton on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Idaho Steelheads

· The Steelheads lead the league in power-play (23.7) and penalty killing (88.1) percentages.

· Rookie goaltender Tyler Beskorowany leads the league with a save percentage of .938.

· Idaho hosts Bakersfield on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Utah Grizzlies

· Utah is 4-1-1 since the all-star break.

· Goaltender Andrew Engelage is tied for third with 17 wins.

· The Grizzlies play at Las Vegas on Thursday.

Victoria Salmon Kings

· The Salmon Kings have scored a power-play goal in six of their last seven games (33.3%).

· Rick Cleaver has scored 10 goals in his last 13 games.

· Victoria is at Las Vegas on Friday and Sunday.

Pacific Division

Bakersfield Condors

· Bakersfield is 14-8-1 against Pacific Division opponents.

· Goaltender Josh Tordjman ranks fourth in the league with 893 saves.

· The Condors visit Idaho on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Las Vegas Wranglers

· Goaltender Joe Fallon ranks fourth in the league with a 2.46 goals against average.

Ontario Reign
