Killeen & Urquhart Reassigned to Wheeling

WHEELING, WV ‚¬" The Pittsburgh Penguins have reassigned goaltender Patrick Killeen to the Wheeling Nailers from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League. In addition, the Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL) have reassigned defenseman David Urquhart to Wheeling. The transactions were announced on Monday.

Killeen, 20, is currently second in the ECHL in wins with 17. The Nailers netminder has posted solid numbers in his rookie campaign, posting a 17-9-0-1 record with a 2.70 goals against average, and a .906 save percentage. Killeen represented the Nailers at the ECHL All-Star game in Bakersfield, CA in January. He recorded his first career shutout in his first professional start on October 16 at Toledo, which helped him earn ECHL Goaltender of the Week honors for the week ending October 17.

Killeen appeared in one game with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, making his AHL debut in relief on January 23 against the Charlotte Checkers. He was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the sixth round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He played four seasons with the Brampton Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League from 2006-2010.

Urquhart, 26, has appeared in 15 games with the Bulldogs this season recording an assist and six penalty minutes. In 21 games with Wheeling this season, Urquhart registered nine points (1g, 8a) and 30 penalty minutes. The 6-foot, 190-pound defenseman has played a total of 120 AHL games amassing 19 points (6g, 13a) and 74 penalty minutes. This was his second call-up to Hamilton this season.

The Nailers travel to Johnstown at the Cambria County War Memorial for a pair of games this weekend. On Friday the team battles Reading beginning at 7:05 p.m., and on Saturday, Wheeling takes on Toledo at 8:05 p.m. Tune into The Mix 97.3 for all of the live play-by-play action. The Next Nailers game at WesBanco Arena will take place on Sunday February 27 against Greenville.
