Carolina Mudcats News Release
ZEBULON, NC - Jacob Schrader was 3-for-5 with a three run home run and Britt Robertshaw and Matt Marksberry combined to pitch six scoreless relief innings, but the Mudcats dropped the finale of a five game series with the visiting Blue Rocks 6-5 on Tuesday night at Five County Stadium.
Luis Rico started for the Blue Rocks (29-23), but left the game after the fourth. He gave up three runs on seven hits and did not earn a decision. Yender Caramo followed Rico out of the pen and allowed two runs on six hits over four innings pitched. Caramo (W, 3-3, 2.98 ERA) did not walk a batter and struck out three while earning the victory. Kevin McCarthy (S, 2) pitched the ninth and earned his second save despite allowing a lead off single in the inning.
Schrader hit a three run home run in the third off Rico to put the Mudcats (23-26) up 3-1. The lead would be short lived though as Wilmington came back with five runs in the fourth to go up 6-3.

He faced six batters in the fourth and allowed all six to reach safely. He finished his start with eight hits allowed, no walks and four strikeouts.
Logan Moon capped the fourth inning rally with a two run triple and was 3-for-4 in the game for Wilmington. Ramon Torres was 2-for-5 and Dominique Taylor was 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Robertshaw relieved Furney in the fourth and allowed one of two inherited runners to score. He then went on to retire three straight to end the fourth and the next six that he faced before leaving after the sixth. Marksberry took over allowed just two hits over three scoreless innings while finishing the game. Robertshaw and Marksberry combined to retire 16 straight between the fourth and ninth innings.
Schrader was 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and a run scored in the loss. Godfrey was 3-for-4 with two runs and both Carlos Franco and Joey Meneses had two hits in the loss.
