Game #52 (Home Game #24)

DASH SHOCK SALEM WITH LATE SURGE

The Dash trailed Salem 8-2 through five innings, but Winston-Salem rallied for seven runs in its final three offensive frames to take Monday's contest 9-8 at BB&T Ballpark. The Dash plated two in the sixth and one in the seventh before sending 10 to the dish in the eighth. Salem center fielder Manuel Margot dropped a fly ball that would have started an inning-ending double play in that deciding frame. T.J. Williams' RBI single tied the score, and he scored on a bases loaded hit by pitch that Trey Michalczewski absorbed against Kuehl McEachern.

SECOND BIGGEST RALLY FOR THE DASH

Winston-Salem overcame a six-run deficit, which is tied for the second-biggest come-from-behind victory in the Dash era (2009-present). Winston bounced back from a 7-0 hole against Salem on May 22, 2009, to defeat the Red Sox 8-7. Since then, the Dash have never mustered a comeback greater than six runs in a victory. Monday marked the sixth time since the nickname change that Winston-Salem sprung a six-run comeback.

RELIEVERS RISING UP

Winston-Salem once again leaned upon its bullpen in Monday's win. Brian Clark did allow two inherited runners to score when he entered in the fifth, but he logged two scoreless frames. Jose Brito mopped up a bases loaded, two-out jam in the seventh before blanking the Red Sox in the eighth and ninth en route to his second win of the season. Brito has not given up an earned run in his last four appearances spanning 8.1 innings. On this week-long homestand that ends Tuesday, the Dash's bullpen boasts a 1.38 earned run average (4 ER in 26.0 IP).

MASHING MICHALCZEWSKI

Third baseman Trey Michalczewski has gone yard twice in this series. He blistered a solo shot over the tall wall in right-center field in the first. Michalczewski is tied for fourth in homers (6) and tied for second in RBIs (32) in the CL. No other Dash hitter boasts more than three home runs (Adam Engel) or 23 RBIs (Jake Peter).

COSE-ING AS OF LATE

Tuesday starter Jake Cose has shined since returning from a back injury that cost him 613 days from August of 2013 to May of 2015. After easing back into the rotation in his first two starts, Cose has worked 17.2 frames in his three most recent outings, during which the Stockton, Calif., native has whiffed 16 and posted a 2.04 ERA. Two of these efforts have come against the Red Sox, who have only mustered two runs on 10 hits against Cose. If he had enough innings to qualify, Cose's overall ERA of 2.10 would be fifth-lowest in the Carolina League.

RUNNING TO DOUBLE-A

Former Dash outfielder Keenyn Walker has earned a promotion to Double-A Birmingham, the White Sox announced Tuesday. Walker has played in all of the Dash's first 51 games, and he posted a .274 average in the CL. The Salt Lake City, Utah, native paces the circuit with 25 stolen bases, which are good for a share of fourth place in Minor League Baseball. Within the CL, Walker also stands tied for second in triples (4) and tied for third in runs scored (30). Fellow outfielder Nolan Earley has rejoined the active roster from the disabled list. Earley is hitting .238 with four RBIs in 14 games in the Triad.

WE NEED TO TAKE A BREAK

Tuesday culminates a Salem-loaded portion of the schedule for the Dash. By the time this series finale ends, Winston will have played 14 of its last 20 games against the Red Sox. Salem enjoys an 8-5 edge in the season set. However, the Sox will invade BB&T Ballpark for the final four days of the first half from June 18-21.

DASH DOTS

In his return to the lineup from a two-game suspension, Chris Jacobs went 2-for-5 with a pair of runs scored on Monday...The Dash improved to 7-0 at home when scoring six or more runs...The Dash will enjoy an off day on Wednesday before hitting the road to Lynchburg for a four-game set...This will be the first of two trips for the Dash to the Hill City.
