June 2, 2015 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Potomac Nationals News Release

Woodbridge, VA-Potomac (21-29-Overall, 12-14-Home) tied the ballgame in the bottom of the tenth when the rain became too much in Game Three against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (31-16-Overall, 20-6-Road). It led to a suspension of the ballgame in the tenth inning between the Pelicans and the Nationals.

Play will be picked up at 5:00 pm tomorrow, Tuesday night, and then the originally scheduled series finale will ensue.

In Game Three it was the RHP Lucas Giolito (1-3, 4.84) against the RHP Jen-Ho Tseng (2-2, 4.26). It marked a rematch of the Memorial Day ballgame at the Beach on May 25th, which went in favor of Tseng.

Tonight's game was scoreless through five and Giolito, who finished with nine strikeouts, walked back-to-back hitters in the fourth and then proceeded to strike out the side, his sixth, seventh, and eighth of the ballgame.

Tseng danced out of a jam in the fourth against Potomac when 3B Drew Ward singled followed by 1B John Wooten singling. The inning ended with no runs but the theme would continue for Potomac.

A scoreless battle between Tseng and Giolito went to the sixth. LHP Matthew Spann came into the ballgame and after a lead-off walk and a sacrifice bunt, DH Chesney Young singled. The C Victor Candelario, after another walk, doubled both home for a 2-0 Pelican lead.

Potomac followed suit with back-to-back singles from C Spencer Kieboom and Ward in the sixth. Rootin' Tootin' 1B John Wootin was the next hitter and he lined a two-run double into the left-center field gap to tie the ballgame at two apiece.

For Myrtle DH Chesney Young, he came around to score on an error charged to 2B Christopher Bostick at the second base position to give the Pelicans a 3-2 lead.

Bostick, who had a hit earlier in the ballgame, would rip an opening inning triple. SS Stephen Perez knocked him with a sacrifice fly and the P-Nats tied the game in the bottom of the tenth.

The game then went into a 35 minute rain delay and ultimately was suspended. It will be resumed tomorrow at The Pfitz for a resumption of last night's tied ballgame with a nine inning contest following.
