
Mudcats and Dash Rained out in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Tonight's doubleheader between the Carolina Mudcats and Winston-Salem Dash at BB&T Ballpark has been canceled due to heavy rain in Winston-Salem. Neither game will be made up as the two teams are not scheduled to meet again during the 2018 regular season.
Thursday's doubleheader consisted of games two and three of the scheduled three game series between the Mudcats and Dash. The first game of the series was played on Tuesday night and saw the Dash claim a rain shortened (completed in the fifth inning) 3-1 victory. Game two, meanwhile, was rained out on Wednesday and pushed to Thursday where once again inclement weather washed out both scheduled games.
With the rain out, the Mudcats finished the series at 0-1 versus the Dash and just 6-12 overall this season in games versus Winston-Salem. Carolina went 5-5 at home versus the Dash and 1-7 in Winston-Salem over what ended up being 18 total games between the two teams in 2018.
Carolina will next return home to Five County Stadium on Friday, August 3 for game one of a new six day home stand featuring three games against the Salem Red Sox and three games versus the Lynchburg Hillcats between Monday, August 6 and Wednesday, August 8 at Five County Stadium. The series with Lynchburg will additionally include the continuation of a suspended game that originally began in Lynchburg on July 23. The suspended game will resume beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7; while the regularly scheduled game will begin shortly after the completion of the first game (beginning no earlier than 7:00 p.m.) and will be played in its entirety through the ninth inning and beyond if necessary.
The #MudcatsFUN promotions in the new home stand begins with Family Friday Fireworks presented by House Autry on Friday, August 3. Meanwhile, Saturday's game versus Salem on August 4 will also include post-game fireworks as Novartis presents a special fireworks show at Five County Stadium. Saturday's game is also Rock N' Roll Tribute Night and will feature a special souvenir aviator sunglasses giveaway for the first 1,200 kids ages 14 and under through the Five County Stadium gates. The next home stand will additionally feature Muddy's Buddies Kids Club Sunday, House Autry Family Fun Monday, Taco Tuesday and Dollar Dog Day presented by Bright Leaf Hot Dogs.
