TOLEDO, Ohio - After the Indianapolis Indians took a 6-5 lead, courtesy of a four-run rally in the eighth, the Toledo Mud Hens responded with two runs in the bottom of the ninth to walk it off on Thursday night, 7-6.

Facing a 6-5 deficit, the Mud Hens rallied after Eric Hanhold (L, 2-1) recorded the first two outs of the inning. Spencer Torkelson walked on four straight pitches before Kerry Carpenter flied the would-be final out to left field that Travis Swaggerty misplayed to keep the rally alive. With runners on second and third, Brendon Davis roped the first pitch he saw into the gap to score both runners and walk it off, 7-6.

Torkelson opened up the scoring with a solo home run in the first inning to put the Mud Hens (48-46) up early. Tucupita Marcano answered for the Indians (44-49) when he grounded a ball down the line that took a generous hop off first base and into the outfield for a game-tying RBI double.

Derek Hill broke the tie in the fifth with a solo home run, that was shortly followed by Swaggerty's RBI triple that evened the score once again for the Indians in their following at-bat.

The Mud Hens surged for three runs in the seventh - highlighted by a two-run double by Josh Lester to give Toledo their largest lead of the game, 5-2.

Down three runs, a Hoy Park walk and Rodolfo Castro double set up a two RBI double by Swaggerty to put the Indians within one. Now facing a 5-4 deficit, with two outs and runners on the corners, Mason Martin lifted a ball deep into the night sky in left field that was lost by left fielder Kerry Carpenter and plated the tying and go-ahead runs for the Indians.

LHP Sam Howard (W, 1-2) worked around a walk to Park and a single by Castro to hold the Indians scoreless before the Mud Hens made their comeback in the bottom of the ninth.

Swaggerty's sixth inning triple was his seventh of the season and the team's 30th three-bagger. The last time the Indians clubbed 30 triples in a season was 2018.

The Indians and Mud Hens will continue their six-game set tomorrow at 7:05 PM ET at Fifth Third Field. RHP Miguel Yajure (2-2, 8.10) will toe the rubber for the Indians, countering for the Mud Hens is RHP Elvin Rodriguez (4-2, 4.03).
