BUFFALO, N.Y. - Thanks to another terrific performance from Brian Keller, the Worcester Red Sox (50-46) edged the Buffalo Bisons (50-46) by a 3-1 final on Thursday afternoon at Sahlen Field.

Ronaldo Hernandez gave the WooSox the lead in the third inning with a two-run home run that left his bat at 112 miles per hour. The long ball snapped a six-game homerless drought for the WooSox. Hernandez hit Worcester's previous home run, which came on July 16.

Buffalo responded with a run in the fourth inning on an RBI double from L.J. Talley.

Worcester added an insurance run in the ninth inning when Nick Sogard brought home a run with a groundout to make it a 3-1 game.

WooSox starter Brian Keller tossed five innings allowing one run on three hits. Keller walked two batters and struck out seven. Over his last 11 appearances, Keller is 3-1 with a 1.60 ERA and 47 strikeouts in 39.1 innings.

Geoff Hartlieb, A.J. Politi, and Frank German allowed only four baserunners over the final four innings. Including Keller, Worcester pitching retired 18 of the final 22 Buffalo batters of the game.

Triston Casas doubled as part of a multi-hit effort. The double was his first extra-base hit since returning from the injured list last Friday.

Worcester is now 9-6 against Buffalo this season and 12-10 in two-run games.

The WooSox continue their six-game series with the Bisons tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. at Sahlen Field. Radio coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. on 98.9 Nash Icon and throughout the WooSox Radio Network.
