Mud Hens Bounce Back against Bats
July 30, 2019 - International League (IL1)
Toledo Mud Hens News Release
TOLEDO, Ohio - Spencer Turnbull returned for a rehab assignment Tuesday as the Toledo Mud Hens won 3-2 over the Louisville Bats at Fifth Third Field.
Turnbull, who last started for Toledo on September 1, 2018, completed his 60-pitch objective over 3.2 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts.
The 2014 Detroit Tigers second-round draft pick limited Louisville to one hit before the bullpen combined for four strikeouts, one walk and seven hits surrendered.
The Mud Hens improved to 11-8 against their International League West Division rival and 24-30 at home this season.
Ronny Rodriguez finished 2-for-4 with a two-run home run for the first score of the game. Four others in Toledo's lineup would record two hits.
In his 33 games played in Triple-A this season, all six home runs from Rodriguez have come in the month of July. The Dominican Republic-born infielder is tied for second on the team in batting average (.287).
Dustin Peterson would pick up his 49th RBI of the season on a single that scored Danny Woodrow in the fifth inning.
Woodrow entered Tuesday riding a 15-game hitting streak. Following his leadoff single in the third, the 24-year-old is four away from tying Harold Castro's league-leading run from April 15-May 23.
Peterson now leads all Mud Hens hitters in RBIs with Victor Reyes earning the promotion to Detroit.
The shutout attempt was erased by Blake Trahan's fifth home run of the season to left field in the seventh. It'd be the fourth homer hit off reliever Bryan Garcia since his transfer from Double-A Erie on May 29.
Louisville right-handed starter Tejay Antone (2-6, 5.40 ERA) left heading into the bottom half of the inning after giving up all three runs on 12 hits.
Picking up his second save was Eduardo Jimenez, who holds the lowest ERA (2.54) and WHIP (0.96) among active Mud Hens pitchers this season.
What's Next:
Beau Burrows (1-4, 4.53 ERA) is probable to start Wednesday in the first of a two-game series against the Indianapolis Indians at Fifth Third Field.
Opening pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. (EST).
