Bakersfield Condors News Release
Bakersfield, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, host of the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic and ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, announced today that RW Pascal Morency and C Pete Zingoni have been reassigned to the Condors. Both players have been skating with the Houston Aeros, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Wild.
Morency, 28, returns to Bakersfield where he has spent the majority of the season. Despite two lengthy stints on Injured Reserve and only 12 games played, the Montreal native is tied for third on the team with eight goals and is second with 57 penalty minutes. His .333 shooting percentage (eight goals on 24 shots) is the best in the ECHL, and among his highlights are a hat trick against the Alaska Aces on home ice, Nov. 3. He has skated in three games with Aeros, recording seven PIM.
Zingoni, 29, is back for his second stint this season with the Condors. Zingoni's first term in Bakersfield helped jumpstart the team into their current winning stretch that has seen them win eight of their last nine. He played four games with Bakersfield from Dec. 10 - 18 (all victories), recording a goal and two assists before heading back up to Houston.
The Condors today also placed F Jean-Marc Beaudoin on 3-day IR. He is eligible to be activated on Friday. C Rylan Kaip was also transferred today from the 3-day IR to the 21-day IR, retroactive to Dec. 23. He is eligible to be activated on Jan. 13. D Joey Ryan remains on 21-day IR and is eligible to be activated on Jan. 10.
Tordjman's bid for three straight comes up just short
Condors G Josh Tordjman, who is assigned to the club from Minnesota, was named runner up for the ECHL Goaltender of the Week Award for his performance last week. Tordjman started all four games for the Condors, going 3-1-0-0, while posting a 2.20 goals against average and a .933 save percentage.
His week started with an overtime win against Stockton on Dec. 27, and ended with backstopping the Condors to their first two-game sweep of a series in Idaho since the 1998-99 season. Utah G J.P. Lamoureux posted two shutouts against Victoria in his two starts last week to thwart Tordjman's bid for a third consecutive award. He was one of only four goalies in ECHL history to win the award in back-to-back weeks.
