WINNIPEG, Manitoba - Goaltenders Ben Bishop and Cory Schneider matched each other save for save until the sixth round of the shootout when the Manitoba Moose slipped past the Peoria Rivermen 2-1 in their final game of the season. Bishop finished with 33 saves through regulation and overtime before he stopped four-of-six in the shootout. He earned the No. 1 star of the game despite the loss.

The Rivermen finished the season 38-33-2-7 and tied for the league lead with 14 shootouts. They were 7-7 in the penalty shot tiebreaker.

Both goaltenders kept the shooters off the board through the first two periods, alternating workloads along the way. Bishop made 15 saves in the first while Schneider stopped 15 in the second and the shots were 23-20 Manitoba at the start of the third.

Daryl Boyle opened the scoring at 3:35 of the final frame. His slapshot from the right point navigated around sticks and skates and over the blocker of Schneider to put Peoria ahead 1-0. It was his eighth of the season and fourth since joining the Rivermen on March 1.

Manitoba notched the equalizer at 9:11 on a Mario Bliznak goal. He fired home a one-timer off a pass from Jordon Schroeder in the left circle to collect his second goal against Peoria on the weekend. The Moose outshot Peoria 7-6 in the third and 4-3 in overtime before the start of the shootout.

Marco Rosa scored on Manitoba's first chance and Julian Talbot made good on Peoria's third attempt. With the shootout still tied 1-1 after five rounds, Winnipeg native Ryan Reaves hit the post and Moose captain Mike Keane sniped the game winner over Bishop's glove.
