Harrisburg Senators News Release

On Friday night at Metro Bank Park, the Senators gave the 5,014 fans a thrill in the bottom of the ninth but came up just short in a 2-1 loss to Erie. Harrisburg trailed 2-0 into the bottom of the ninth and after Tyler Moore homered, trimming the deficit to 2-1, the Senators loaded the bases with two outs but the game ended when Austin Wood struck out Erik Komatsu.

The Senators went 1 x 10 with runners in scoring position as they continue to struggle in scoring situations. They led off the second and third innings with doubles but did not advance the runners further than second base.

Washington Nationals' LHP Doug Slaten made a rehab start for the Senators pitching the first two innings before handing the ball to Oliver Perez. Perez was sharp, allowing five hits in 5.2 innings and just one earned run but took the loss and fell to 3-4. Hassan Pena pitched the final 1.1 innings allowing no runs and one hit.

Archie Gilbert had two hits of the Senators. Moore's home run was his league leading 27th on the season.

Game two of the three-game series is Saturday night at 7:00pm with RH Erik Arnesen on the hill for the Senators. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 6:50pm.
