Rock Cats down first-place Fisher Cats

NEW BRITAIN, CT - Bobby Lanigan hurled seven shutout innings and Brian Dozier homered as the Rock Cats topped first-place New Hampshire, 3-1 before a sellout crowd of 8,192. It was the 22nd sellout crowd at New Britain Stadium this season, which ties a franchise record.

Lanigan (7-9) out-dueled former Rock Cat Yohan Pino. Lanigan limited the Fisher Cats to three hits and struck out four through seven innings. He struggled with control at times, walking three and hitting two batters. Pino (3-7) scattered seven hits in eight innings. He allowed two earned runs and struck out six.

The Rock Cats broke the scoreless game in the third inning. Danny Lehmann reached base on a one-out double to left field before Dozier slugged a home run over the left field wall for a 2-0 lead.

In the seventh, the Rock Cats tacked on another run courtesy of a single by Deibinson Romero that scored Evan Bigley.

Rock Cats reliever Tyler Robertson allowed one unearned run - on an RBI single by Yan Gomes - in the ninth but struck out three to notch his 14th save.

ALLSTATE PLAYER OF THE GAME - RHP Bobby Lanigan returned to form with seven shutout innings. He limited the Fisher Cats to three hits and struck out four.
