
Curve Back for Home "Cookeing" and Fireworks During Final August Homestand

CURVE, Pa. - The final August home series for the Altoona Curve gets underway Monday at Blair County Ballpark as the Richmond Flying Squirrels (AA - San Francisco Giants) visit for four games over three days. The Monday-Wednesday set features a visit from a Pittsburgh Penguins' player, a Two-for-Tuesday with Fireworks, and the annual UPMC Health Plan Member Night.
On Monday, Pittsburgh Penguins' forward Matt Cooke will make his first appearance in Curve, PA thanks to the Altoona Trackers, Kennametal, Advanced Chiropractic, and WTAJ-TV. The 13-year NHL veteran will be on hand to take part in the ceremonial "first puck" as well as signing autographs for 90 minutes during the 7 p.m. game with Richmond.
Monday will also serve as a Mirror Monday presented by the Altoona Mirror. Fans can get $3 off Grandstand tickets to Monday night's game with the coupon from the front page of the sports section in the Monday edition of the Mirror.
The high-octane set continues on Tuesday with a special 5:30 p.m. doubleheader with the Squirrels that features a newly-added Fireworks show and a Two-for-Tuesday presented by Atlantic Broadband and KRAFT Singles. Fans will be able to take advantage of 2-for-1 offers on tickets, hot dogs, and small popcorn all throughout the two games. Then, following the second game, fans can enjoy a Fireworks show to cap their evening in Curve, PA.
Wednesday will bring the quick four-game series to a close at 7 p.m. with a Ponderosa Four-Pack Wednesday as well as UPMC Health Plan Member Appreciation Night. Patrons at the game on Wednesday night can get four tickets, four hot dogs and four regular sodas all for $30 thanks to Ponderosa Steakhouses.
UPMC Health Plan members will also be admitted into the UPMC Home Run Junction seats for FREE on Wednesday night with the postcard that was sent to them in the mail.
The final What We're Watching Wednesday also takes place during the final game of the set as we'll get an inside look at what makes Curve, Pa. tick with "Only In Curve, Pa. with Bill the Comic Guy". The cartoonist behind the mascots and cartoon-life of Curve, Pa. will take fans through what it takes to create Curve, Pa. throughout the game.
