Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans defeated the Missouri Mavericks on Wednesday night by a score of 7-2, winning their 44th game of the season in front of 3,847 at Allen Event Center.
The Americans exploded for three goals in the opening period. Tyler Barnes (8), Bryan Moore (22) and Miles Liberati (3) all lit the lamp to put Allen on top 3-0 after twenty minutes of play. The Americans dominated in shots 13-3.
Allen made it 4-0 early in the second as Josh Brittain tipped home a Travis Brown shot from the point for his 10th of the season, 46 seconds into the second frame. Missouri would close the gap with two power play goals, to make it a 4-2 game after two periods of play, with Missouri outshooting Allen by 11 in the second period 17 to 8.
The Bryan Moore show continued in the third frame with his 23rd and 24th of the season and his third hat trick of the year. Alex Krushelnyski added a goal late to give Allen a five-goal cushion and a 7-2 lead. The Americans would cruise to victory by that same score.
"It felt great to get back out there tonight," said Bryan Moore. "We had a great first and third period, we just need to clean up a couple mistakes we made in the second period."
Joel Chouinard extended his point streak to seven games with an assist tonight on Tyler Barnes goal. That's a season-high point streak for the Allen defenseman. Riley Gill won his 29th game of the season, making his fourth straight start for the Americans.

On how much confidence the team has, having won 10 of 11:
"It's a weird time of year, we are trying to get first place but we are also trying to play the right way going into the playoffs. Tonight, I feel like we took a step forward, the last few nights, they were wins but not the way we want. I thought tonight was pretty dominant."
On whether it's a matter of being more disciplined or needing to work on the penalty kill:
"We just have to stay out of the box. One of the goals we gave up was a five on three. Our PK guys are so good, but when you take penalties consistently they get tired. Gill is the hardest goalie in the league to beat five on five, so we've just got to stay out of the box."
