Idaho Steelheads News Release

(Boise, ID) - The NHL's Dallas Stars have reassigned defenseman Guillaume Monast from Idaho of the ECHL to Texas of the AHL.

Texas is the American Hockey League affiliate of the Idaho Steelheads. The AHL is the highest level of minor-league hockey in North America. Monast is under contract with the NHL's Dallas Stars and has spent time with both of the organization's development affiliates this season. Texas (AHL) and Idaho (ECHL) are the primary development affiliates of the Dallas Stars.

Monast has one point (an assist) in nine games over three previous trips to Texas.

The 22-year-old Quebec native has skated in 116 regular-season games for the Steelheads over the past two seasons, totaling 14 points (one goal, 13 assist) and a plus-11 plus/minus rating. He also had five points in 13 postseason games during Idaho's run to the ECHL's Kelly Cup Finals last spring.

"Pink in the Rink" Week is here - the Idaho Steelheads will host the Ontario Reign on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday night at Qwest Arena. The team will be wearing specially-themed pink jerseys that will be auctioned off to raise money to fight breast cancer. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
